I can imagine how tough trying to find the right school is. With all the budget cuts going on in our state, it will probably be even harder to predict what classroom configurations, etc. will look like. Oftentimes combo classes like a K/1 will be made within the first few weeks of school once enrollment numbers are settled and the school rebalances the grades.

I think if you are proactive (which I know you are based on all your research), the school should *hopefully* be flexible in meeting your child’s needs. At my school, we see K/1 as a continuum and often send kids to the first grade classroom for language arts, etc. if they are advanced.

I hope it all works out for you and you get the school that you want!

I don’t have a choice in schools, we have one. I allowed my daughter to ride the school bus to school only because she is the oldest of three and there was no way I could get her to school on time (I TRIED) and she had so many tardy slips.

I hear you on worrying though I would too, it’s a job as a Mom I think!

Lots of (((HUGS))). I can’t imagine not knowing where my daughter was going and then having to wait so long to find out! I hope it all works out and that they get their ducks in a row over there and get her little one in the right school!

I am very nervous about my son starting kindergarten too. I am like you, I will never let my children ride school buses ever. He will be going to kindergarten next year in the fall. Now that we have to move, the school that he was going to be going to was only across the street from our home! Now, I am frightened! Ugh! HUGS!

It doesn't make any sense to me at all that they'd do that! I know my cousin had to do the same thing in elementary. There was a school 2 blocks from where she lived and she had to ride the bus across town due to district lines. We don’t have the option of choosing at all… they put them in school according to where we live and there is only one school per district so we just get stuck with whatever that happens to be. We’re in a great district though, luckily. Hopefully she gets the same!
