But You Never Let Me Have That!: Small Talk Six

March 20, 2010 by Shan 5 Comments

It’s time, once again, for Small talk Six! On Saturdays presented by MomDot.com. Today’s topic is “6 things you love to eat, but rarely get to because at least one other person in your household does not care for it”. You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences. 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc…

On some things, my Husband and I have very different taste, on others we agree completely. For example, we both love steak and lobster, Mediterranean food and Greek food. But I like things hot and spicy. Him? Not so much.

Of course I think his aversion to anything spicy has more to do with his mother rubbing a pickled Jalapeno pepper in his mouth and gums as punishment for cursing than the actual food being distasteful to him. I can’t even eat salsa while I sit next to him, it makes him physically ill. What’s even sadder? My Husband is Hispanic. He’s supposed to live on that stuff! Instead, he married a white Irish girl with a penchant for peppers. The hotter, the better, I always say.

Hey, I craved Habaneros when I was pregnant with The Diva.

1) Blue cheese-Italian chicken. I came up with this one myself, but since Hubby hates blue cheese, I can’t eat it very often, if at all.

2) Spicy enchiladas

3) Habanero salsa

4) Thin crust, brick oven pizza. My Husband likes thick crust, I prefer thin. But he absolutely loves pizza and would eat it morning, noon and night if he could.

5) Asparagus

6) Chocolate Chip ice cream. My Husband describes my flavor choice as “milquetoast”. Now I ask you, is there anything milquetoast about moi?

See, it’s the other way around in my house. My husband loves Southwestern and Mexican food, but I can’t stand the flavor or the smell of those types of spices.

I forgot about blue cheese! I only get it at restaurants because no one else in my family will eat it.

    God Bless,

Wow. I could totally understand him not liking spicy foods. My moms method was the traditional soap bar. To this day, I never eat soap. lol. The chocolate chip ice cream thing I don’t understand. How can you not like ice cream? Crazy.
