The Diva Needs A Toy Box

I have been on a mission for a while now to get The Diva a good toy box. The old diaper boxes just aren’t working anymore. The problem is that all the ones I have found are either too small or too expensive and I certainly can’t afford a custom job. I think I will have to build it myself. I found a tutorial and it doesn’t seem that hard. All I need is a door hinge or two, some wood, glue, nails and some paint. I could even put a decorative handle on the lid for easy access and no squished fingers. I am sure they have those safety hinge things at Home Depot and some pretty handles. I really think I could do this.
I want the top to have a pad so it could act as a bench as well. I love double duty furniture. 😀 I could get some stencils and put The Diva’s name on it and maybe some cute characters or flowers. She loves flowers. I want it to be girly, but tough at the same time. Ro is not exactly gentle with her things and loves to climb and jump. I already have a drill, an electric sander and clamps….what could be so difficult about it? The home improvement stores will cut the wood for you and I am sure my neighbor has a router I could borrow.
I would love to have my own set of routers, table saws, pneumatic nail guns, etc., but my Husband feels I would be far too dangerous with them. I think he’s afraid I will be quite literally able to nail him to the wall if I had a nail gun. 😛 Then again, he may think long and hard about messing with me if I had one.
Hmmm…Mother’s Day is coming up… 😛

The one in the pic is super cute. I need one for Hannah! I’m the same as you – if I had a garage I’d have a wood shop in there…love working on projects like that. But since I don’t have the space, we’ll have to buy one.
