As Much As It Pains Me To Say This…
Obama actually did something I agree with. I KNOW!!! Now just stave off all your fainting spells and read…
He lifted the ban on stem-cell research. I support stem-cell research and no matter what anybody says, the cells do not have to come from aborted babies. There are stem cells in the umbilical cord blood of every newborn baby. The research so far is amazing. Stem-cells are the building blocks of every part of the human body. This could potentially lead to cures for cancer, leukemia, kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, AIDS….so many terrible diseases. And it could help the paralyzed regenerate the nerve cells needed for them regain their mobility. This is a good thing.
Instead of needing an artificial heart or donor heart, you could potentially have your very own brand new heart grown for you in a lab. Need a new kidney? Use stem-cells to grow a new one. Honestly this is awesome. And the best part, or so the scientists believe, is that there would be no need for anti-rejection drugs because the organ would be grown to mimic your own tissue. Your body would see it as yours and not an alien invader.
This is fantastic! I cannot wait until we start to see some real results. And hopefully, the drug companies and special interest groups will keep their grubby little hands off of this and just let it evolve naturally. OK, so I have some altruistic hopes there, but, hey I can still dream….

Yeah I hadn’t made up my mind on this, but I tell ya the guy sure can talk because he really had me going for it. I mean, I’ve had too many friends die from stuff they probably didn’t need to now that we have the science to fix it.
Ha Ha, did you really cave?! You like something my boy did? Bite your tongue sweetie, ’cause I’ll remember this day for eternity 🙂

I have a friend right now…at MD Anderson clinic in Houston…who has cancer….and is a candidate for stem-cell research….do I think it should be allowed….if my friend has a chance to live…yes I do. Thanks for your comments.
I agree that a lot of good research will come from stem cells. I lost both uncles in the past year; One to Parkinson’s and one to Alzheimers.
However, just to clarify, the ban that Obama lifted was on Federal Funds for stem cell research. Almost all the strides in medicine that have ever been made have used private donations. Why do we now need to allocate federal funds to this research?
And I’m not convinced that he won’t find a way to start allowing cloning.
Sorry, I have to disagree with you on this, I think it was the wrong decision.
