Happy 8th Birthday, Baby Girl!
Today is your 8th birthday and I couldn’t be prouder or more in awe of you. Mostly because I was just holding you in my arms the other day, I blinked and you are now eight-years-old. Where did the time go, little girl? How did you get so big, so fast?
In the last year, you have gone through a couple of significant changes. You finished first grade with wonderful grades, started second grade — and have consistently earned the same kinds of marks all year — and to both mine and daddy’s surprise, you needed glasses, just like us. It turned out that although you always passed the vision tests from your doctor and the school and you showed no signs of having difficulty reading, you inherited both mine and daddy’s astigmatism. The ophthalmologist told us that you have never seen anything clear or sharp in your whole life! Boy did that make me feel bad, but how could we have known since you always passed the examinations?
So, along with daddy getting new glasses and me needing bifocals, you joined us in a life of necessary vision care. The funny thing is, you wanted glasses so badly — why, I will never understand — that you picked out the pair you liked while daddy was being examined. This was before we even knew if you needed them or not.
In just a few minutes, you went from my sweet faced angel to a girl who wears glasses. It took me a few days to get used to you wearing them, but now I do a double take when you don’t have them on.
On top of all this, you have the attitude of a fourteen-year-old only tempered by your natural little girl wonder. I cannot seem to stay mad at you no matter what and there are times when I am admonishing you for bad behavior and you burst out laughing…then I start laughing. It all goes downhill from there. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. You can work my last nerve and frustrate me to to no end, but I love you to the moon and back anyway.
I am glad I am your mama and I hope I am teaching you all the things you need for this life. You are strong, beautiful, smart, funny and kind. You amaze me daily with some of the things you say and do and with all of the things you know already.
My birthday wish for you, as always Angel Girl, is that you will always know how completely loved you are and that you continue to dance, no matter what life throws at you.
Happy Birthday, baby. Mama loves you to the moon and back.
Always.

Oh my gosh she’s so big. I have the same problem with my daughter, of being unable to stay mad at her!
I know! She got so tall! She’s all legs like me. LOL
And it’s hard to stay mad when she’s so damn cute!

Those glasses just make her even more cute if that’s even possible! Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Mandy! I was so afraid that she would get bullied & teased like I did, but nope, no problems at all. Of course when I was her age they didn’t have cool glasses like those. LOL
