Just Another Wordless Wednesday
This is my attempt at using my camera’s new found “flower” setting to try to achieve pictures where the subject is focused but the background is blurry. I think I did OK, for just learning I even had the feature. I have to give a big thank you to Marcel, who wrote a post about photography over at 5 Minutes For Mom {Actually, it’s a whole series of posts} and helped me see that my camera has more features/settings than I knew. I did not see these ones listed in the owner’s manual.
This the the flower who’s overpowering scent gives me a migraine every time I get a whiff of it. My neighbor has three of these blossoming trees in her front yard. I cannot venture into my front yard until the blooms die off, nor can I open any of my windows, lest I get a nose full of that horrible scent. Does anyone know what this bloom is called? I would at least be able to put a name to my element of torture.
I am not sure what kind of tree this is, but I thought the dark pink blossoms were pretty.

I know – my camera has features I have not had time to discover or play with yet. It is on my “list” tho.
Very nice job with the photos. I would say the smelly flower is a type of Lilly, but maybe it has Trumpet in the name.

It’s the one in the second picture, Claire (the white one that hangs down). She has 3 trees of them in the front yard. I’m about to seriously die. 😛 I need a gas mask to go into my front yard right now.
duh, I know what those are.. because I asked her once!

I agree with Robin, looks like angel Trumpets… I had one, but they don’t like the cold, so it died! so maybe get some dry ice!! and when they are not home dump it on the base of the trees!! oh I am evil!!
I am learning about my features too, and my WW post had flower photos taken with the flower button, but not with the purdy blurry background on your geranium. so come on over Shan!! spread some comment love my way 😉
