Prayers For Shellie

My bloggy friend Shellie (twitter: @Military_Mom) has lost her precious 2 year old son, Bryson, in a horrible drowning accident just this very afternoon. As you can imagine, she is devastated. I have no words. When I read this, my jaw literally dropped to the floor and I began to shake. My heart has broken for her.
Her husband is out in the field (He is in the military) and we have no idea when he will be able to get back to his family. She is alone with her other children and this giant, black sucking hole in her heart for her beautiful baby boy who is now in Heaven.

I cannot begin to know exactly what she is going through right now; I can only speculate. I do know that she needs prayers, love and support now. They just moved into their new house at the beginning of this month. They were going to celebrate a wonderful Christmas.

Now they will be burying their youngest and trying to navigate through unimaginable grief. Something like this changes you forever. It changes your whole family. It makes you question who you are and what your life is all about. It makes you question your aptitude as a Mother. It makes you feel like a failure.

All of these things, I’m sure, will go through her grief stricken mind at some point. She will blame herself for an accident. And that is what it was. An accident. It is not her fault. I am writing this post because I cannot stop thinking about her. I cannot get this tragedy out of my head…or my heart.

I ache for her and the pain she is going through right now. Please say a prayer for Shellie and her family. Please pray that she finds some kind of peace, however small it may be. Please pray that she and her family can heal and go on from this as whole they can possibly can, considering this horrible event.

Just this morning, I was lamenting about my sprained ankle, The Diva being sick and all the things I had to do today that still haven’t gotten done. Now I know that my problems are completely insignificant compared to what Shellie is going through. I actually feel guilty and dumb for complaining about any of them.

Please, hold your babies tight tonight. Tell them you love them, no matter what. You never know how long you may have together.

This song keeps playing in my head.

Simon & Garfunkel – Bookends

If you have lost a child or know someone who has, these are some wonderful resources. Carly has an amazing loving soul to be able to help others after the devastating loss of her baby son Christian.

UPDATE: Two bloggy friends who live near Shellie and are part of the Mom group I belong to have gone to her house to give her support, love and whatever else she needs. These women are amazing, along with every other member of our group. For them to just pick up and go to be with a grieving mother shows that I am in the company of some truly magnificent, loving, soulful, selfless women {and a couple of men}. I love our group.

These are links to all the Moms and bloggers who wrote posts supporting Shellie. Some have experienced the loss of a child, others have not. We are all just showing our love for a friend, fellow blogger and Mother.

We definitely think alike. It's really sad that it takes something like this to remind us of what's truly important. My heart goes out to them.

    {{hugs}} so thoughtful!!
it is just so hard to even come up with words at a time like this…

I pray for the family that God gives them the strength & comfort to make it past this time of sorrow, and soon find that Bryson is always with them in their hearts.
