Bawling Like A Baby In The Theater: Small Talk Six
It’s time, once again, for Small talk Six! On Saturdays presented by MomDot.com. Today’s topic is “6 movies that make you cry“. You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences. 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc…
OK, I am a big softie, even though I come off as a hard ass sometimes. It’s all an illusion. A lot of things affect me deeply. I have always cried at movies and television shows. The ones that are especially heartbreaking to me are listed below.
1) Grand Torino. This movie is both funny as hell {He calls his south east Asian neighbors zipperheads, even though he is friends with them and cares for them deeply} and heartbreaking. It shows the brilliance and range of Clint Eastwood. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do. It is a fabulous movie.
2) Philadelphia. There is a reason that Tom Hanks won back to back Oscars. This is it.
3) Ghost. Patrick Swayze as a murdered man who loves his girlfriend so much, he just can’t leave…yet. The last line of the movie sends me into the ugly cry. Hell, the whole last scene does. And mine and my Husband’s song is the love theme, Unchained Melody by The Righteous brothers.
4) Honogurai mizu no soko kara {Dark Water}. The original Japanese version. I know this is supposed to be a horror film, but for some reason this version of the film makes me cry. The mother sacrificing herself to save her her daughter at the end and then the daughter coming back to the old apartment…just makes me bawl. Or I was having a hormonal moment when I watched it the first time. I don’t know. I usually hate horror movies.
5) Martian Child. I love John Cusack. He’s brilliant. So was this movie.
6) The Last Unicorn. It’s a cartoon from the early eighties. I have collected unicorns since I was seven years old. This movie is voiced by Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow {As the Unicorn} and Alan Arkin. The score is by America. The ending is very sad. Kind of like a reverse happy ending. And yes, animated tales can make me cry. Sue me.

I’m not familiar with some of them, but since I cry at almost anything, I’ll make it a point to avoid them!
*whispers* Animated films do that to me, too!
A great list 😀

I am so glad I am not the only one. LOL
I love the Last Unicorn too! Such a classic!

LOL Most people don’t even know that movie. And yes, it’s a classic. I got the 25th anniversary DVD a while back with extra scenes and a ton of other cool things on it.
I love the music from it! The Harpy used to scare the bejesus out of me as a child!

For me, it was the Red Bull and the old gnarled king that freaked me out as a kid. But yeah, that Harpy was pretty scary too.
