Disney’s The Odd Life Of Timothy Green Review And Giveaway (Ends 11/30/2012) CLOSED
I was recently given the opportunity to review an advanced copy of The Odd Life of Timothy Green (in stores December 4, 2012). We watched it on Thanksgiving night and we loved it. The Diva said her favorite part was when “he comes up out of the garden”. Personally, I liked the whole thing. It was quirky, cute, funny and a good family movie. I cried at the end because I’m a huge softie, but it wasn’t the ugly cry, just your normal “awww, why did that have to happen, everything was going so well” cry. Even my Husband liked it and he pretty much hates chick flicks. Well, he outwardly hates chick flicks. I’ve actually caught him crying at several of the movies I’ve dragged him to over the years. He tries to hide it, but he sucks at it. This is the same man who refers to Lifetime as “the women in jeopardy channel”.
Yes, I just outed my Husband on the internet. So?
This film is heartwarming, uplifting and perfect for a family night snuggling on the couch. The humor was just enough to make the adults laugh, without being too mature for my seven-year-old daughter to understand. She wants to watch it again, right after she’s done with the tenth repeat of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade today — thank God for DVR’s! My kid’s a bit odd, but we love her anyway. This is one of those movies that gives you hope that anything is possible if you just believe enough and love unconditionally.
From Academy Award-nominated writer/director Peter Hedges (Dan in Real Life, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape), and starring Golden Globe® winner Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, Oscar® winner Dianne Wiest and CJ Adams as Timothy Green, comes this highly imaginative story about a happily married couple who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. Then one stormy night young Timothy shows up on their doorstep. Soon they and the small town in which they live learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts. The story is written by Ahmet Zappa (“American Gangster,” “Changeling”).
I truly enjoyed the inclusion of the music video for This Gift by Glen Hansard, featuring Marketa Irglova — one of my all-time favorite artists. If you’ve never heard of him before, you need to do a Google search. He won an Oscar for the song Falling Slowly, which is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Oh, and he’s Irish. You all know how much I love my ancestral Emerald Isle home and the amazingly creative artistes that come from it, don’t you? You don’t? Where have you been??
Now for what you all came here for: the giveaway.
The winner will receive a Blu-Ray+DVD combo pack of The Odd Life Of Timothy Green, plus two bonus gifts — I didn’t even get these — a mini-poster and a Christmas ornament.
“The Odd Life of Timothy Green” Blu-ray Combo Pack provides viewers with the chance to delve deeper into this captivating movie experience through never-before-seen bonus features, including the documentary “Family Roots: Bringing ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’ to the Screen,” which looks at this unique family story and the creative team that brought it to life; “Glen Hansard: Behind ‘This Gift” – the Academy Award® winning songwriter tells how he and Marketa Irglova crafted the moving end-credits song; “This Gift” Music Video by Glen Hansard; Five all-new deleted scenes; and a director audio-commentary.
