Just Another Wordless Wednesday… {The Diva’s New ‘Do}

[ 35 ] December 9, 2009 |

Monday night, The Diva hacked off huge chunks of her hair with her safety scissors. I was so upset {and still am}, that I was crying. My baby had such beautiful long hair. Nearly down to her waist. Now, it’s at or above her shoulders in some spots. And her bangs…oh don’t go there. Well, how could you, anyway? They almost don’t exist anymore. I was planning on going to get family Christmas pictures and taking her to see Santa this week~end.

Yep.

I, of course was blamed for this by my Husband because I was busy working on the computer {writing something I am getting paid to write about} and not paying attention to her.

Uh, yo, honey?

I DID NOT GIVE HER THE SCISSORS, YOU DID.

I told her no. You went behind my back, usurped my authority as a mother, yet again, and let The Diva do/have something I had previously denied her.

Guess what dear? This is all on you.

The Diva’s hair used to look like this {And yes, I know, it’s just hair, it will grow back. But The Diva does not grow hair quickly. I could not do any cute stuff with her hair or any kind of pony tail until she was 3 1/2. This will take forever to grow out.}:

Now, I give you:
A Diva’s Hair Hacking: The Results…

Well, at least it gave me a great Wordless Wednesday, eh?

Oh Shan, I'd be upset too πŸ™ But it was great blog fodder and you're right…it will grow back eventually. Now put those scissors away!

    I would be devastated.

    It'll grow back, but sheesh!

Well they are wearing their hair kinda lop sided these days… Oh geezers!
Well one good thing that can come out of this.. When you take her to get it cut, save the hair and donate it to "locks of love" it is a program that takes virgin hair and makes wigs for kids with cancer.
And you never know… her hair may grow faster now, that the weight is removed!

aw Shan but she is still beautiful. I am glad I've lost every pair of scissors we own because I know Owen would do this as well (since he's in need of a hair cut) at the most inappropriate time. ((hugs)) I hope it grows super fast for you and her.

Yikes! I did the same thing when I was 5, though. I put my hair in a pony tail and cut at the band. It was, interesting. I hated the hair cut I had to get to fix it, but I never cut it again. LOL!

Omg I think I would have cried. But it does grow back, I have had a few of these moments of the years. My girl actually just about did this today and I caught her just in time !

  10. Secret Mom Thoughts says:

I would be upset too. She has lovely hair. It still looks cute though.

  11. kasandria says:

Awww. It doesn't look that bad! Honestly! She could have done worse. She's still cute as ever!

aww one of my daycare kids (she didnt do it at my house) decided to use sissors on her hair at home last year. she has the longest straight hair. She came in one morning and it was up above her ears. She chopped off everything. Her hair is finally growing back and to her sholders now. That is how long it took to grow cause she really took it to the scalp

  13. Stitchblade says:

I love it. I find it very edgy and unique! This is very in, it's a fashion plus!

It'll be OK! Atleast you have a great story to show her boyfriends later!

  14. Trish says:

Oh, that's not too bad! I bet if you took her in somewhere they could add some layers and fix her bangs a little and she would still look gorgeous. I definitely think it's fixable!

  15. mommy23monkeys says:

You're right, her hair was gorgeous…and it will be again! Take her to a stylist and have her bangs fixed and maybe add some real layers to make the holes less obvious. It will be beautiful again.

  16. Robin says:

Awww, she's adorable even with the shag. A little bit of evening out and no one will even realize it wasn't on purpose.

  18. What a great Wordless Wednesday! Hope you have a fantastic day!

  19. Her hair really is beautiful and shiny and it will grow back!!! Sadly, this happens in just about every home!

  20. Bloggymommy says:

I would be upset too. But at least she will get a new 'do'! And she is still adorable! πŸ™‚

  21. Brittany says:

Awww omg! I'd be upset…but just think in a few years you are going to laugh hysterically about this.

  22. Lisa @ Crazy Adventures in Parenting says:

At least you can work with it, it isn't to the scalp or anything, THANK GOODNESS! That's what I feared when you first told us!

  23. Kate says:

Add layers, even out the bangs and she will look like a little diva. Really, I thought it was going to look awful, it's actually about as good as super cuts cut my DD's hair. May I could just pay her : )

  24. Momstart says:

I did this once, I think all little girls do, if they are left alone with a pair of scissors

  25. Kelly says:

all of my girls have done this at one time or another but luckily never that bad. You'll look back at this one day and laugh. I promise

  26. catsynth says:

Actually, her new hair looks quite hip and artsy – or "edgy" as Stitchblade suggested above. And she wears it well with that smile.

  27. Annie says:

She has gorgeous dark wavy hair! I am glad that you can leave it long – just layer the sides and the back is still so beautiful! It sure does make for a good post though πŸ™‚

  28. Shop with Me Mama says:

Oh no! At least she is young and it will grow back quickly?? LOL! It is still beautiful though!!

  29. Awww…but now you have an excuse to take her in for a fun and fresh bob cut, maybe pin her bangs back until they grow out.

  30. LadyStyx says:

Oh dear. Well the good news is, there seems to be enough for a Locks of Love donation. Another good bit, I think she'll look sweet in a chin length bob.

  31. Amanda says:

I did the same thing with Grandma's pinking shears when I was 5. I ended up with a pixie to fix it. I hated the 80's LOL.

  32. Tammy says:

You might be surprised at how quickly it grows back – when our daughter was little it took forever for her hair to grow, but now it grows like grass, I feel I'm always ready to take her to have it trimmed.

I'm sure whatever you do with it, she'll look beautiful, she has an absolutely gorgeous smile that takes the cake over hair any day!

  33. Creative Junkie says:

omgosh, I know it's JUST hair but still … I would have freaked out too. I am so thankful my kids never did this.

Yes, it will grow back and yes, you will laugh at this one day and YES, she's still beautiful. But I totaly feel you on the pissed off factor.

  34. Lisa P@www.isitmondayalready.com says:

awe hun it happens to us all! I know it suck but it will grow out

  35. Oh no!! Alex and Shane both did it too. It's totally a kid thing to do. I don't have to worry about Bella though because she is SO VAIN about her hair, lol!!!! I teased once about cutting it because of all the snarls and omg she had a cow!
